Why is it that a car traveling in the opposite direction as the car in which you are riding on the freeway often looks like it is moving faster than the speed limit?

It’s because of the theory of special relativity:
Object moving faster than your view actually move through time quicker.
Einstein actually proved this. Pretty neat
