Answer: A person taking a round trip flight to Hawaii will have travelled a long distance with a net displacement of 0 because displacement is not about the distance travelled. It is measuring how far you ended up from your starting point. If you were taking a round trip this means it takes you to Hawaii then back. So, despite travelling all that distance to go to and from, you still ended in the exact same place you started, hence there being a 0 net displacement.
