Sequence of these stages as proposed by Freud
Oral Stage (0-1 years): The focus of pleasure and conflict is on the mouth, and the primary activity is sucking and feeding. Issues related to dependency and trust may arise during this stage.
A nal Stage (1-3 years): The focus shifts to the a nal region, with toilet training being a key developmental task. The child learns to control bowel movements, and conflicts related to control and autonomy emerge.
Ph allic Stage (3-6 years): The ge nitals become the primary focus of pleasure, and children become aware of gender differences.
Latency Stage (6-12 years): Sexual impulses are suppressed, and the focus is on developing social and cognitive skills. Children form same-sex friendships, and the sexual energy is channeled into other activities.
Genital Stage (12 years and onward): The onset of puberty reawakens sexual impulses, and the individual seeks to establish mature sexual relationships.
