R1 = 50 Ω, R2 = 200 Ω, and R3 = 600 Ω, and the voltage supply is 600 V. R2 and R3 are in parallel, this combination is in series with R1. What is PTotal?

Explanation:

R2 and R3 in parallel are equivalent to

R2 R3 / (R2 +R3) = 200*300 /(500)=120 ohms

in series with R1 means the total resistance = 50 + 120 = 170 ohms

the current will be V/R = I 600/170 = 3.53 amps

Power is V * I = 600V * 3.53 A = 2118 watts
