The length of the diagonal, EG, in this rectangle using Pythagoras theorem is 8.7 cm

What is the length of the diagonal of the rectangle is the hypotenuse?

The length of the diagonal of the rectangle is the hypotenuse.

Hypotenuse² = Opposite² - Adjacent²

= 6² + 6.3²

= 36 + 39.69

Hypotenuse² = 75.69

Find the square root of both sides

Hypotenuse = √75.69

Hypotenuse = 8.7 cm

Therefore, diagonal EG equals 8.7 cm

Use Pythagoras' theorem to work out the length of the diagonal, EG, in this rectangle-example-1
