The number of fish in a pond decreased by 10% this

year compared to last year.

Last year, there were 60 fish in the pond.

How many fish are in the pond this year?

To do this problem you change ten percent into its decimal which would be .10 and multiply that by 60. That number gives you ten percent of sixty which is 6. And since the number of fish have decreased by 10% you take 60 and subtract six to get the answer 54.
