Does this make sense?:

"The closer I came to the crickets, the more thirsty my ears became, crying for more music."

(and if it doesn't make sense, could you help me find the mistake and rephrase?)

It makes sense to me. But instead of “the more thirsty my ears became” you could say “ the thirstier my ears became”
