By applying Pythagorean's theorem to the right-angled triangles, the values of x, y, z include;

x = 11.2 cm.

y = 17.16 cm.

z = 25.76 cm.

In Mathematics and Geometry, Pythagorean theorem is an Euclidean postulate that can be modeled or represented by the following mathematical equation:

c^2=a^2+b^2

Where:

  • a is the opposite side of a right-angled triangle.
  • b is the adjacent side of a right-angled triangle.
  • c is the hypotenuse of a right-angled triangle.

In order to determine the length of h, we would have to apply Pythagorean's theorem as follows;

c^2=a^2+b^2\\\\40^2=x^2+(13+10.4+15)^2\\\\1600=x^(2) +1474.56\\\\x=√(1600-1474.56)

x = 11.2 cm.

For the value of y, we have:

y^2=11.2^2+ (13)^2\\\\y^2=125.44+169\\\\y=√(294.44)

y = 17.16 cm.

For the value of z, we have:

z^2=11.2^2+ (13+10.2)^2\\\\z^2=125.44+538.24\\\\z=√(663.68)

z = 25.76 cm.
