The value of the missing side is 14.7

Using trigonometric concept;

  • cosine = Adjacent / Hypotenus

From the triangle;

  • Length of side Adjacent to angle 30 is x
  • Length of hypotenus of triangle is 17

Inputting our values into the expression :

cos(30) = x / 17

x = 17 × cos(30)

x = 17 × 0.8660

x = 14.722

The value of x to the nearest tenth is 14.7
