Given:

The two functions are

f(x)=3x+1

g(x)=x^2-6

To find:

The function (f+g)(x).

Solution:

We know that,

(f+g)(x)=f(x)+g(x)

Putting the values of given functions, we get

(f+g)(x)=3x+1+x^2-6

(f+g)(x)=x^2+3x+(1-6)

(f+g)(x)=x^2+3x-5

Therefore, the required function is
(f+g)(x)=x^2+3x-5.
