The value of x in the diagram is 125

Since P and Q are cut by the traversal R , (2x + 40) and (3x - 85) are alternate angles

Now we have;

  • (2x + 40) = (3x - 85) (Alternate angles are equal)

Collect like terms

2x - 3x = -85 - 40

-x = -125

divide both sides by -1

x = 125

Therefore, the value of x is 125
