The basic formula that can be engaged to get scale factor is, Scale factor = Dimension of the new shape/ Dimension of the original shape.

What is a scale factor ?

A scale factor is a quantity that determines how much a geometric figure or form may be altered in relation to its initial dimensions. It is used to determine the missing length, area, or volume of an enlarged or reduced figure as well as to draw the enlarged or reduced shape of any given figure.

The scale factor is,

Scale factor =
(Dimension of the new shape)/(Dimension of the original shape. )

Other way is Scale factor =
( Larger figure dimensions )/(Smaller figure dimensions.)
