How many H bonds do H2O molecules in ice have

Answer:There are two hydrogen bond donors (H) and two hydrogen bond acceptors in oxygen lone pairs (O:). This means that any individual water molecule is involved in four hydrogen bonds. However, if you extrapolate that to the whole lattice, you cannot double count the acceptors and the donors, both are needed for a H-bond. So you get 2 hydrogen bonds per water molecule on average.
