add one to both sides, 2x=6x+12

than add 6x to 2x, 8x=12

now divided by 8 on both sides to isolate x

x=8/12=2/3

-1 + 2x = 6x + 11
-2x -2x

-1 = 4x + 11
-11 -11

-12 = 4x
Divide 4 from both sides
x = -3
