Mary is saving up to buy a new bike. She earns $10 per hour babysitting, and she wants to buy a $350 bike. If she saves half of her earnings and her parents contribute the rest, how contribute the rest, how many hours does she need to babysit to save enough for the bike?

Answer:70 hours

Explanation:

Firstly, you divide 350/10(how much the total cost of the bike is divided by how much money she gets per hour so we know how many hours Mary needs to work so she has enough for the bike) so which would give you a quotient of 35. Next, you know that her parents keep half so you would do 35x2(because her parents keep half and she needs to have enough for the bike) which would give you a product of 70 hours.
