x/2 = x/3 + 4

to get rid of the fraction on the left side we multiply everything by 2 :

2×x/2 = 2×x/3 + 2×4

x = 2x/3 + 8

to get rid of the fraction on the right side we multiply everything by 3 :

3×x = 3×2x/3 + 3×8

3x = 2x + 24

now we subtract 2x from both sides :

3x - 2x = 2x - 2x + 24

x = 24
