The National War Labor Board was an organization created out of the desire of the United States to devote an increased amount of resources to its military during times of war. As an extension of this desire, the government wanted to ensure that labor disputes and related issues would not tamper with economic productivity. Thus, the National War Labor Board was an extension of Progressive policies during wartime.

The National War Labor Board was an experiment by the United States in government activism. It signified a continuation of government invention in private enterprise to further its interests.
