The area of a square whose sides are (x+8)cm is 64cm², then what is x?​

area of square=side ×side

we have, side=x+8

also we have area of square=64cm²

∴ (x+8)cm×(x+8)cm=64cm²

⇒x²+16x+64=64 ∵( a+b )²=a²+b²+2ab

⇒x²+16x=0

⇒x(x+16)=0

∴x=0 or x=-16
