The two main ports for immigrants coming to America were Ellis Island in New York Harbor and Angel Island in San Francisco Bay. Ellis Island operated from 1892 to 1954 and processed over 12 million immigrants, while Angel Island was primarily used to process immigrants from Asia from 1910 to 1940.
