Misha takes things to the orphanage in Milkweed to help the children living there. Throughout the novel, Misha is a street child in Warsaw during World War II, and he himself has experienced hunger and poverty. He empathizes with the orphans, who are also struggling to survive in the difficult conditions of wartime Warsaw.
