A rectangular garden has a walkway around it. The area of the garden is ​4(​3.5x+1.5). The combined area of the garden and the walkway is 5.5​(​6x+5). Find the area of the walkway around the garden as the sum of two terms.

Answer:

19x+21.5

Explanation:

Area of Walkway= Total Area - Area of Garden

= 5.5(6x+5) - 4(3.5x+1.5)

= 33x+27.5-14x-6

= 33x-14x+27.5-6

= 19x+21.5

∴ area of the walkway around the garden as the sum of two terms is 19x+21.5
