Tonya looked focused as she stepped onto the field. It was as bright as the sun outside, but it didn't bother her. This track meet was about to start, and Tonya's tummy was a bowl of jelly. She needed to win this meet in order to move on to the finals. "Runners up!" yelled the ref. She stretched her thigh muscles, holding her foot in her hand, and then walked over to the starting line. She was ready. BANG! went the gun and off she ran! Her lungs burned and screamed as she ran, but she kept going, one foot in front of the other. Just a few more inches, she thought, I can do this.
