Marta and Esperanza don`t like each other at the beginning. Esperanza thinks that Marta is a mean, snooty girl who can`t mind her own business. Marta thinks that Esperanza is one of those people who give everyone less in rank orders. Later, their opinion of each other changes when Esperanza helps Marta hide from the government officials who came to take the strikers away.
