This is because bryophyllum leaves are capable of asexual reproduction through a process called vegetative propagation. The leaves of bryophyllum develop tiny plantlets along their margins that can grow into new, independent plants when they fall off the parent leaf and take root. In contrast, rose leaves do not have this capability, and cannot produce plantlets or roots in the same way that bryophyllum leaves can.
