Most molecular solutes are nonelectrolytes. Unlike ionic compounds, which dissociate into ions when dissolved in water and can conduct electricity, molecular solutes do not dissociate and therefore do not conduct electricity. Examples of molecular nonelectrolytes include glucose, sucrose, and ethanol.
