The black church and music have played an essential role in the political socialization of African Americans. Specifically, the black church has been a cornerstone of African American culture, providing a platform for religious teachings as well as a space for political discussion and mobilization. Similarly, music has long been used by African Americans as a form of protest and protest songs often reflect the issues that are most pressing to the community.
