Hitler began revising the Treaty of Versailles in 1933 by withdrawing Germany from the League of Nations and introducing a series of domestic policies that violated the treaty's terms. In 1935, he announced the reintroduction of conscription and the formation of the Luftwaffe, both of which were prohibited by the treaty. In 1936, he reoccupied the Rhineland, which was also forbidden by the treaty.
