I’m confused so this is elimination

6x -y=1

-8x +3y=-7

Instead of multiplying both equations by 6 and -8, it doesn’t work, and I have to multiply by 4 and 3 to get what x and y is can someone explain where the 4 and 3 came from?

Answer:

Explanation:

the reason why you use 4 and 3 is because -8 and 6 will both equal out to -24 and +24 after you multiply, making is possible to do elimination .
