Caesar Augustus, the first Roman emperor, had a profound impact on Rome and its legacy. Through his extensive reforms, he provided stability and prosperity while expanding the empire. He established the Pax Romana, or Roman Peace, which spread Roman culture, law, and language throughout the empire. He also built monuments, temples, and public buildings throughout Rome which have lasted to this day. Augustus also reformed the army, making it one of the most powerful in the world, and increased the power and wealth of Rome. His greatest achievement was his establishment of the Principate, a system of government that would be passed down through generations and remain in place until the fall of the Roman Empire. Augustus' contributions allowed Rome to become the world's first superpower and remain one of the greatest civilizations of all time.
