leukemia is a type of cancer that affects the white blood cells. leukemias result in an overproduction of the cancerous cells. what is the term for an abnormally high number of white blood cells? why doesn't cancer occur in erythrocytes?

Answer: Leukocytosis is when someone has a high number of white blood cells. Cancer doesn't occur in erythrocytes (red blood cells) because cancer happens when a cell divides (aka mitosis) too much and too rapidly, and red blood cells dont have a nucleus and therefore cant undergo mitosis so cancer cant occur in something that does not do mitosis.
