When a hemisphere experiences winter, tell what happens to the Sun’s energy hitting the surface of the hemisphere

As Earth orbits the Sun during the year, the tilt keeps pointing the same direction (toward the North Star), so during the winter months, the Northern Hemisphere points away from the Sun, and the Sun's radiation hits that hemisphere at less direct angles.
