Mrs. Hines is making dinner for herself, her husband, and their 3 kids. She bought 2 bags of carrots that had the same amount of carrots in each bag. She cut each carrot into eighths to make small carrots. She put 9 small carrots on each person's plate for dinner. Then she put 12 small carrots into a salad for dinner. She put the remaining carrots in a plastic bag so she could eat them at work tomorrow. If she had 23 carrots to take to work, how many carrots came in each bag?
