Why is it difficult to draw a conclusion from an experiment that has no control group?

Answer:

The control group is what the standard is in the experiment, it is what we're comparing the results to. Including a control helps draw a conclusion because it helps the research tell if there was truly a significant effect on an experimental group. Without a control group, threats of the placebo effect and other things would undermine the validity of the whole experiment.
