well, the number is really "x", which oddly enough is the 100%.

we also know that 3/4% of "x" is 24, so


\begin{array}{ccll} amount&\%\\ \cline{1-2} x&100\\[1em] 24&(3)/(4) \end{array}\implies \cfrac{x}{24}~~ = ~~\cfrac{100}{~~ (3 )/(4 ) ~~}\implies \cfrac{x}{24}=\cfrac{400}{3} \\\\\\ 3x=9600\implies x=\cfrac{9600}{3}\implies x=3200
