Like lines, there is no set length to a stanza or an insistence that all stanzas within a poem need be the same length.

Stanza forms are the most common way of writing poems in English. Stanzas are a set of lines that have four lines. The first line is called an octave, and the other three lines are called sestets. Stanzas are usually written in iambic pentameter, which means that every syllable has an even number of beats (syllables).
