Absolute value represents how far you are from zero on the number line.

Examples:

  • -27 is 27 units from zero, so |-27| = 27
  • 34 is 34 units from zero, so |34| = 34

The output of an absolute value function is never negative. Negative distance does not make sense. Therefore, we have no way to reach an output of -7. This is why we have no solutions here.
