Figure A is a parallelogram with a base length of 5 units on a coordinate plane. Figure B results from dilating Figure A by a factor of 4 by a factor of 4 and translating 6 units down. What is the base length of Figure B?

Answer:

  • 20 units

----------------------------

After dilation by a factor of 4 the base length becomes 4 times larger:

  • 5*4 = 20 units

The translation is not affecting dimensions of the figure so the base length of figure B remains as 20 units.
