What endocrine disorder is thought to be an autoimmune reaction where the body accidently attacks itself and stops making insulin?

Type 1 diabetes is thought to be an autoimmune reaction. When the body attacks itself, it destroys the cells that make insulin called beta cells. Since the beta cells are being destroyed, there is no (or little) insulin being produced.
