You must join like terms in algebraic formulas in order to add two of them.

(4x - 1) + (-6x + 3)

The coefficients of the similar terms must first be added.

4x + (-6x) = -2x

and

-1 + 3 = 2

The abbreviated form is thus:

-2x + 2

As a result, (4x - 1) + (-6x + 3) equals -2x + 2.

Please be aware that the terms can be added in any order. The outcome will be the same in the end.
