Why does Frederick Douglass choose not to write all the details of his escape in his narrative? Why does he specifically criticize the Underground Railroad?

Answer: He explains that his escape method is still used by other slaves, so he does not want to publicize it. Douglass believes the underground railroad has received far too much attention. He also believes that, while the intent is noble, the slaves themselves suffer when they gain their freedom.
