How do you solve -2x=8

Answer:

All you have to do is divide by -2 on both sides. You're trying to get x by itself, so divide by a number by cancels itself out. Don't forget the negative sign as well, or else you'll be left with -x instead of just x. A positive number divided by a negative number will become negative.

-2x=8

x=-4
