Explain WHY or WHY NOT the sentence that follows is compound: Old MacDonald had a dog Bingo was his name.

I probably won't be able to tell you exactly, since your class may have rules on this. But I'll give you some examples.

Sandy was a marketer, and she ran a business.
Jeoffrey made money off of selling dogs, and he bought a few of his own.
Old MacDonald had a farm, and he sold his livestock.
Lydia hated peas and carrots, but she loved broccoli.
Soccer is my favorite sport, so I tried out for a team.

Remember, the conjunction words form a compound sentence ALWAYS. A complex sentence has two or more parts and is not conjoined with a conjunction word. A simple sentence is one part and does not have any conjunction words.
