the perimeter is the sum of the 3 sides of the triangle

sum the 3 sides and equate to 106

x + 5x - 2 + 5x - 2 = 106

11x - 4 = 106 ( add 4 to both sides )

11x = 110 ( divide both sides by 11 )

x = 10
