As a result of the French and Indian War, France lost all of its territories in North America, including New France (present-day Canada) and its territories in the present-day United States (including Louisiana, Mississippi, and Illinois). The war also marked the end of France's military and economic power in the region, and it was forced to cede these territories to Great Britain and Spain as part of the Treaty of Paris in 1763.
