f(g(x)) simply means that you use the whole expression of g(x) as argument in f(x).

f(x) = 3x - 7/4

g(x) = 2x - 1

so,

f(g(x)) = 3(2x - 1) - 7/4 = 6x - 3 - 7/4

since 3 = 12/4, we get

f(g(x)) = 6x - 12/4 - 7/4 = 6x - 19/4
