The main reason why the New Deal was made was because they wanted to combat the negative effects that the great depression had had on the American society. The New Deal was put in place to easen these symptoms but it, however, proved to be not as effective as the people would hope for.

The American people began to want and expect more social welfare programs from their government. Some are still existing at present like the, Social Security System and the Tennessee Valley Authority. Though the “New Deal’s” first goal was to wipe out the effects of Depression, the objective was not met. It also strengthened the power of the President as supreme over the Congress and strengthened the ideologies of the Democratic Party.
