At the time of the First World War, most women were barred from voting or serving in military combat roles. Many saw the war as an opportunity to not only serve their countries but to gain more rights

Answer:

As you know, women had less rights and were unequal to men. Men were always more superior. But when ww1 came along, so many people died and got injured that seeking help from women was inevitable. That is why some women joined the army and some helped the injured in the hospital. But this was only the beginning. The number of women joining the army and helping out rose higher in ww2.
