Unlike identical twins, fraternal twins result from two eggs fertilized by different sperms. This is why fraternal twins are also named dizygotic twins, as there were two zygots at one point. These twins are not identical, although they are born at the same time. They may resemble each other, like any siblings do, but they do not look the same, even though they are technically twins.
