How can you solve problems involving equations that contain addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division?

Well it all depends on the problem but you have to approach every problem with the order of operations PEMDAS. In order you do parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, then subtraction. If you post an example of the problem you're trying to work out we can be more specific.
