Adam Clayton Powell Jr. was an activist that left his mark in Congress for being a crusader of the civil rights of African Americans. He had his own confrontational approach towards racial discrimination that was controversial to most men in Congress. He was outspoken and regarded as an irritant by many of his colleagues because of his persuasive attitude.
